Early-Stage Progress in Law School

Law school: The first week started with two assignments, each 15%. We knew it was coming, but somehow, we still felt like we got ambushed. Welcome to law school.

I didn’t do sufficient prep for the first lesson, and my participation (or the lack thereof) showed. The big difference is that when we don’t do the pre-readings, the whole discussion will fly past us. I was essentially caught for not knowing the definitions of legal terms I should have known if the pre-readings had been done adequately. That’s when I knew I needed to start preparing much earlier if I wanted to survive.

Fast-forward to the weekend before Lunar New Year. I got back my first assignment grade—there is always room for improvement. What was immediately clear was to commit time to doing pre-readings regularly and put more effort into understanding the content instead of last-minute scrambling.

On a brighter note, I have finally played badminton after a whole month. I was lucky to escape without injuries and somehow shook off the rust quite quickly. I also played some table tennis in between with colleagues; this one might be more sporadic.

Baby steps. Cheers.
